PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In this project each student had to explore international relations in the modern world, specifically with the country, committee and topics that they were given. There were four committees which were WHO 1, WHO 2, UNHCR 1, UNHCR 2, UNICEF 1, UNICEF 2, UNHRC 1, UNHRC 2. In each committee, there were one person representing one country. We did MUN for two days, and each day we had a different topic to talk about. They gave us what committee, country and topics we got chose to do, and we were given 3 weeks to prepare us for the two day conferences. My counrty was the United KIngdom, and my committee was UNICEF 1.
USEFUL ARTICLE
I choose this article out of many because I felt like it gave me a lot of information about what the UK did to help on the crisis we discussed during the conferences. I felt like I could defend my county with these facts which was great. I felt like I needed to know well what my country has done to help with the crisis because for me, thats one of the most important informations and if you know that well, you will be one (big) step closer to being able to defend yur country well.
POSITION PAPER
Drafts to Final- The first draft that I made was not good at all. I was very confused on what to write and I was very off topic in all my paragraphs. It seemed like I was talking about things that did not really had to do with the topic I was supposed to write about. Then after they gave me critique, they gave me ideas on how to write it and what to change so it could sound better. The second draft was way better beause it did sound on track, and I added more to the paragraphs. Then they critiqued it again and that helped me a lot because I still needed to write the 3rd paragraph. They gave me some questions that helped me write the 3rd paragraph.
Critique- One of the critiques that helped me the most would be when one of my classmates pointed out that some of my paragraphs/part of my paragraphs were off topic. I feel like if he didn't pointed them out, i would not been able to recognize it and change it. What i'm proud of- I was proud of my final position paper because it sounded very proffecional and I could see the difference between my first draft to my last draft. |

OPENING STATEMENT
I didn't change a lot of things from my first draft to my final opening speech. When I first read it to the people who were going to critique it, my opening speech was 1:06. I knew that I would either had to talk faster or take some information out. The only critique that they gave me was to put a little bit of more statistics, which is what I did. I added some statistics in the beggining of my opening speech and I took some of the information that I though did't really mattered in the opening speech. The imformation that took out was more information for the discussion. I dont really think I would change anything if I were to do it again because I felt like it gave my point across well. |

WHAT IM MOST PROUD OF
The thing that I am most proud of would probably be writing my position paper, because at the begining I was really confused and I had no clue what to write. I spent like a solid 30 minutes just thinking on how I would start my position paper. The first draft was obiously not the best but I was happy that I wrote what I wrote because it took a lot of thinking and a lot of research. I'm proud of the process and how it turned out. I am also proud of the opening speech because I feel like it turned out good, simple and straight to the point with a few information about the topic at the beggining. Something that I would do differently is talk more in the conferences. I just felt like I didn't talk as much as I wanted to.
KEY MOMENT
Before doing the MUN I felt like it would be a little akward and I thought that a whole day to discuss only one topic was a lot of time. I thought that we would not have much tot alk about after lunch but surprisingly we did. Another thing that surprised me was that most of the time, everyone would agree with almost allt he ideas. We would come up with a resolution really fast, and everyone would be okay with the resolution which was surprising. People did ask questions, but after the questions were answered we would agree on it. There was only one out of all the resolutions that did not pass.
